My name is Danielle and I'm the creator of Hidden Treasures Travel Blog.
After spending years traveling through cities both foreign and familiar, I started noticing a pattern: the places I went were full of vibes, good food, and photo ops, but somehow managed to erase, ignore, or just flat out hide the Black spaces that built their foundation. Soul food spots with recipes older than your grandma, museums honoring Black brilliance, and cultural events that feel like family reunions, seemed to be erased from cities all together.

Too often, these places were hard to find, as they were often buried under Yelp reviews for overpriced avocado toast or completely absent from the “Top 10 Things to Do” lists written by folks who wouldn’t dare cross Martin Luther King Blvd after dark. That’s why I started this travel blog. I love to travel just as much as I love discovering history and culture like it was hidden treasure.
So, I've decided to map out the spots where Black joy lives. From Atlanta to Oakland, Detroit to New Orleans, I'm highlighting our restaurants, art galleries, historical landmarks, community tours, festivals, speakeasies, block parties, and everything in between.

At this point in history, this isn’t just about travel. It’s about visibility. About finding our people when we're far from home. About showing that no matter where we go in America, we’ve always been here, rooted, building, thriving.
